US Tour blog 3 - Mountain breeze, briny seas and tropical trees - November 2023
Jo and I felt a quickening of the spirit as we landed in Seattle, a city that has always meant a lot to us with the special times we've spent there. We had fun taking the monorail to the Space Needle, from the top of which you get stunning views of the water, the city and even the distant volcano Mount Rainier.
We then enjoyed an evening with Rob, Roger, Jonas and Craig at Ivar's, a special restaurant with fantastic food, filled with indigenous artefacts and overlooking Lake Union.
Both the Seattle and Salem shows went off like a dream with fabulous crowds in beautiful old theatres.
Some of us then drove whilst others flew down to Monterey. The road journey took us through some spectacular scenery, and our overnight stop was within sight of the impressively gigantic volcano Mount Shasta.
Monterey had a great vibe with a fun pirate themed pier and a stunning coastline. Following a fun show there, we equally loved playing in San Francisco at the gorgeous Palace of Fine Arts Theatre.
The road journey from San Francisco to San Diego became challenging when we drove through a wild dust storm, followed by driving rain in the LA rush hour! We managed to navigate through it all though and arrived at our destination before the end of the evening...
The San Diego show went off like a dream and the drive to Santa Barbara was amazing through those gorgeous mountains and past the glistening Pacific Ocean.
Following a really enjoyable show in Santa Barbara, the LA show was incredible, as both band and crowd raised the roof of the fabulous Orpheum Theatre! It felt like a homecoming as LA was the first place which really welcomed Genesis 50 years ago...
This has been an extraordinary tour! A very big thank you to all the fans who came to see the show, to Entourage Talent, Brian, Adrian and the whole team...
I so much look forward to returning on tour to the USA in March!
