Southern Nights
The first half of the UK tour has been a great success… We kicked off in Cambridge, playing to a fantastically responsive crowd! The band were totally on fire from the word go! It was also great to have special guest Amanda Lehmann weaving her additional magic with us for the first three shows.
Ipswich, Eastbourne, Bournemouth, Bristol, Basingstoke, Torquay and Aylesbury were all equally enjoyable for us all, with band totally going for it to amazingly appreciative audiences…
Cambridge is always a great place with its unique history linked to the university and that amazing atmosphere. Then all those places on the coast… Ipswich’s harbour has a terrific vibe… Then Jo and I had the chance to enjoy a coffee on Eastbourne’s iconic pier, which Jo remembers well from her childhood. Bournemouth was equally picturesque with its sandy beaches, and we enjoyed walking around the wharves of Bristol and boarding a colourful galleon, reminiscent of all those fabulous pirate films! Another fun moment was passing Stonehenge, with those prehistoric burial mounds close by… all inspirational!
We were glad to support the food bank in Aylesbury… and great to see Steve Rothery with his wife Jo, plus fellow musos Ian Mosely and Jakko Jackszyk, along with other pals. Always special to connect with promotor and good friend David Stopps as well there, and terrific to see agent John Giddings and Flo Petri of Solo with promotor Alan Day of Kilimanjaro in Bournemouth.
The southern part of the tour has been a great success and we’re now so much looking forward to travelling north!
