Weeping angels and demon players - September 2012

Signed guitar for Shooting Star
Playing at Weyfest near Farnham, UK, on the evening of 2nd August was delightful - a bit like a club of pals out for a Sunday jaunt. I'd worked before with several of the other acts on the bill, such as Steve Howe, Geoff Downes and John Wetton. There was a very nice atmosphere backstage as well as onstage and out front. After a few teething problems with the sound at first which is always part and parcel of festivals, our band settled down into a goodly groovacious feel for the rest of the gig. The audience were really fab too. Asia also seemed on fine form for their set. Carl Palmer's drums thundered through the trees as John's voice soared through the night air. I was pleased to get a chance to play John the new version of Afterglow, which he sang so passionately.
There were many enjoyable moments. I was pleased to sign a guitar along with other guitarists for the Shooting Star Children's Hospice. It was good to mingle with the audience amidst the festival atmosphere and to stumble on a collection of fine life sized Doctor Who models. I just about escaped being thrown back in time to the mid seventies by a weeping angel...
Many thanks to promoters Colin Webb, Richie Ellmer and Ali Edwards, along with Brian and all the band and crew. It was a great evening.
