South Bank Sparkle - August 2012

London celebrates
It's an extraordinary time in London right now. The Olympics have created a real buzz and the city celebrates day and night! When I went to the Royal Festival Hall on Monday and Tuesday to do a guest spot on Elizabeth Fraser's show, the South Bank was flooded with activity, creative events, a fairground and stalls of every kind of food imaginable. The whole place was teaming with life...
I really enjoyed playing acoustic guitar to Elizabeth's extraordinary voice. She's on Pete Gabriel's Ovo album, Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings film and has been a huge part of both the Cocteau Twins and Massive Attack. Her show was like something from another world. Her unique voice sounds almost supernatural in its beauty and intonation. I felt honoured to join her. My thanks to Elizabeth, Damon and David for making it all possible.
It was a welcome break from the long hours of intensive mixing work on the Genesis Revisited II album, which has now reached the mastering stage. But it's certainly been worth it and I'm too excited to sleep...
