Relaxing in Milan

Steve

Steve, Giorgio and Sol in Milan
The early arrival of summer in Italy greeted us as warmly as all the wonderful Italians on our flying visit to Milan, Bologna and Rome. The band always falls in love with Italy over and over again; luckily the fans reciprocated on a breathtaking scale. A universal yet somehow personal feat they manage to pull off every time.
Once again the band stomped, cracked and whined into the night taking no prisoners by axe, octoban and magic flute - they still blow me away at every gig.
Our hosts, the Blue Sky agency, headed up by irrepressible Vania, Sergio and Alberto, feel like a family to us. Such great lifelong friends.
Giorgio from the Watch and his wife Sol showed Jo and I around a musical museum in Milan where amongst other things we came across Verdi's piano - apparently his last...
After a great welcome at the show that evening where we also met up with many friends and supporters, we set off for Bologna, and here was another wonderful audience. It had been a while since my electric band had played in both Milan and Bologna. A troublesome new volume effect was sorted at full throttle in true pedal to the metal style. The audience clapped for an exceptionally long time between songs... "Such sweet percussion as doth seduce the senses..." as Shakespeare might have quipped.
On to Rome itself - an extraordinary gig. We won the crowd and our freedom was assured in true gladiatorial style... What a show, what a city and what an audience!
Next stop Poland...
