Wildscapes and Magic Caves - October 2019

On arrival in Tucson, Jo and I joined our pals Leigh and Franck for one of those exciting adventures we all do together...

First stop was the Colossal Cave, an incredible labyrinth of natural tunnels, laced with stalactites and stalagmites, and steeped in both historic and prehistoric events, as well as several ghost stories. It was fascinating... both beautiful and spooky at the same time...

The following morning we headed for the Kartchner Caves. These contained massive caverns, where you could imagine scenes from Lord of the Rings taking place. The formations shone and sparkled in several colours in many shapes and sizes. This was a real living cave, still containing water and inhabited by bats. The most extraordinary sight of all was the gigantic 50ft tall Kubla Kahn multi-faceted natural pillar.

After this amazing experience of that other world that lies beneath, we all headed off for the Wild West town of Tombstone. It's touristy, but a genuine town from those days gone by. We visited the courthouse, the OK Corral and the theatre, which also doubled up as a bordello and gambling place! We finished up in the local saloon...

On show day we all visited the Saguaro National Park, weaving our way through those massive living desert sentinels and visiting the rocky place where ancient peoples drew their petroglyphs... Thank you so much Leigh and Franck!

The Tucson gig that night had a fun, wild feel, and we all had a great time. The Phoenix show was equally exciting. Always a joy to play in that special city deep the desert. Thank you everyone in sunny Arizona!

And now on to LA...
