Pirates, Palms and Pina Coladas - February 2019

Following a journey across Florida after Cruise To The Edge, we arrived in Miami and next day boarded the ship for On The Blue cruise... Here we had the chance to see acts like Justin Hayward, Al Stewart, Alan Parsons, Vanilla Fudge and Procul Harem.

Our show was the first in the main theatre... The crowd were great and it was fun to try out lasers! A great time was had by all. Our first stop was Nassau, Bahamas. Beautiful place with brightly coloured buildings. We traveled to some fascinating sea caves, once a pirate den of iniquity...

We couldn't resist it - we just had to have a pirate theme for my birthday celebration with band and crew. Pina coladas, beer and wine were in plentiful supply, and we all had a terrific time! The following evening the boat staff made a fantastic birthday cake for me, which Jo kindly brought on stage... And it was another gig with a great vibe, this time joined for Every Day again by Lorelei and Durga McBroom.

Our other stop was Labadee, where Jo and I with pals boarded a small boat to the neighbouring part of the island, Haiti. We waded ashore where we were treated to voodoo drumming, food from local villagers, tropical trees, sea, sand and coconut juice. A far cry from the riots and prison break out going on at the other side of the island!

The rest of the time was enjoyable but for sure busy with Q&A with Roger Dean, photo session, signings, interviews and meetings... It's a great way too to meet lots of fans. We've had a fabulous time on both cruises... The boat sped back to Miami at quite a rate. Probably for the best as we were passing through the Bermuda Triangle!

Back on land Jo and I said goodbye to the rest of our team, as we're staying on a while in the States...
