Steve on the Charles Bridge, Prague

This year's tour with Djabe was special, involving three Central European capital cities and two splendid historical towns. Always good to get back together with Attila and the guys again. Richard Buckland flew out to Budapest with Jo and me this time...

First stop - the magical city of Prague! Jo and I managed to walk around this beautiful place again, past those amazing Gothic and Baroque buildings, and through the ancient winding streets to the dramatic Charles Bridge across the Voltava River. The promotor took us into the jazz club he runs in the basement of a Medieval building. Apparently many basements like this in Prague were once the ground floor until the ground was raised to stop flooding... So there's a whole underworld of passages and sunken rooms running through the old town.

The venue itself where we played that night was also underground. It had a strong vibe with a lively crowd.

From one city to another... Back to Budapest for an outdoor show near the River Danube, and was great to play there as the sun slowly set with a fantastic light show taking over...

No time to waste - On to the third city, Vienna, elegant home to Strauss and the Danube. As always, good to play there to a very enthusiastic response!

Then off through the beautiful Alpine foothills to the old town of St Veit. A Medieval castle going back to the thirteenth century was an atmospheric venue for the show. It was great to catch up with some good pals there too. Jonas Reingold and his partner Christine came to this gig, and he'll be playing bass in my band again when we all convene for the upcoming shows in Spain, France and Italy!

Finally, we travelled back to Hungary to the historic town of Kaposvár, south of Lake Balaton for the last show. It all ended on a high with a terrific crowd...
