Our first West Coast stop - San Francisco! Always an up to be in that vibrant city, with its colourful trams, multi-cultural community, characterful buildings and beautiful outlook across the bay. Following the trip to Alcatraz (the feature of my previous blog), the Berkeley show went down a storm. Always a fantastic audience in that region! Further down the coast, our next gig at picturesque San Luis Obispo had an equally enthusiastic response, and the Orpheum show in LA was a totally explosive experience! Both Jo and I had flu throughout, but the crowds blew away all cobwebs every night! It was special as well to see close pals, including Armando Gallo...
Our final destination for the USA leg of the tour was Phoenix. It was great to see my pal / gig promotor Danny Zelisko again and the show had a magic vibe...
The following day, Jo and I joined pals Leigh and Franck for a journey into the mountains near Phoenix. Our guide Johnny Ringo was a tremendous character. It was fascinating to hear about how young Native Americans used to train to be shamans on peyote and without food or drink, high up on a volcano top. We also met Johnny's wonderful horses, one of which took a particular liking to me...
