After two days of driving, we crossed into Canada and arrived in Peterborough, Ontario where we stayed for the Lindsay show. The Peterborough hotel was in a great spot facing an enchanting lake. Jo and I enjoyed a walk beside the nearby railroad track which looked old and disused with tufts of grass between the tumbleweed and a rusty bridge straight out of the Wild West. Suddenly as a train came roaring by with lights ablaze, we realised the whole place was very much alive!
The Lindsay show had a fun cosy intimate vibe contrasting with London where crowd excitement with the the music echoed through the arena. I believe London Ontario was the first time Genesis played live with Phil Collins as lead singer at the beginning of the Trick of the Tail tour in 1976. I remember the gig was received so well that we knew we were on a roll from the start...
Staying in Toronto, it was fun to ascend the CN Tower once again. Such a fabulous view from the top of the city and the huge expanse of Lake Ontario. On the distant horizon you could just make out a strange cloud rising from the Niagara Falls.
It was good to play in Oakville again... both shows sold out. The venue has a really welcoming vibe and there was a great rapport between band and crowd.
And so our Canada leg of the tour came to an end... A special visit seeing several friends, both new and old, and enjoying a bunch of dynamic shows. Now heading back across the border for the final part of the North American tour...
