Through Strange Seasons

I feel the need to mark the date... It's exactly a year now since Jo and I took that last flight out of Philadelphia for London, directly before everything locked down. The North American tour had been forced to halt half way through, and it felt very strange to suddenly find ourselves back home unexpectedly early in an altered reality.
We immediately realised the gravity of the situation, shocked to see the devastating impact of the virus on people even within a month of our return home. Realising how tough it was for everyone around the world, we set about filming what became about sixty Lockdown videos to keep up spirits. Once I was able to get back to working with Roger, we recorded Under A Mediterranean Sky, whilst I also released my autobiography as well as our live Selling England & Spectral Blu-Ray.
Meanwhile, in that strange Lockdown world Jo and I fed and befriended a whole host of creatures including birds, squirrels and foxes, plus at least one rat... Our garden became a sanctuary as we felt acutely aware of the changing seasons... We were able to get out a bit in the Summer, but the virus made another large appearance in the Autumn, followed by an even bigger one in the Winter...
Thank goodness for nature and the world of imagination. Apart from a month out when I had surgery, I was able to keep on working through. I'm now close to finishing new electric album, which I'm really proud of already. It'll be due out later this year! It's such a relief to know that touring will start soon as well, and finally we can all join the dance again in the world we know and love.
