From East to West - February 2015

Steve at the fortress, Belgrade

Parisian pillars
Hot on the heels of the Icelandic adventure, it's been a whirlwind these last two weeks... One weekend in Belgrade, capital of Serbia, the next off to Paris...
The Belgrade trip was for a 'Wolflight' video. Jo and I enjoyed walking the streets on our arrival and exploring the old fortress which dates back to Roman times. It rises beside the confluence of the Danube and Sava rivers and Attila the Hun is allegedly buried beneath that place.
The shoot was in a studio with green screen, the action taking place in a rugged landscape inhabited by wolves. I sang and played both electric and acoustic guitar whilst the director boosted my confidence and encouraged a dynamic performance. The three main actors all had an extraordinary look, enacting people from an ancient wild nomadic tribe...
I'm doing a lot of promo on this latest album. Less than a week later Ben Fenner, Jo and I were off to fabulous Paris for interviews and guitar workshops with press. Our French publicist Valerie was very helpful and coordinated several interviews and sessions around the city. Wonderful to be there again, wandering through those cobbled streets, drinking in the atmosphere, diving into cafés and hearing the strains of Edith Piaf... Whilst at the hotel we were treated to various bizarre versions of 'My Way' in French over breakfast!
Back from Paris now and tomorrow straight into a photo shoot. It's all go, but for sure an exciting time...
