It's been great to tour the Genesis Revisited show this year and I look forward to returning to it in 2014, but it's also fab to be back in the studio with Roger recording my new album.

Ideas are constantly being born as we work. In a way the studio acts like Dr Who's Tardis or C S Lewis' wardrobe, where creative imagination takes flight between the walls and worlds of ideas come to life. Experiences from the past months come to roost here which have inspired many song ideas and instrumental phrases. It can be the statue of a tribal warrior watching over a turbulent river, moon and clouds over crashing waves in the Caribbean, the thundering Niagara Falls, a book that touches you, a moment of quiet beneath a tree, standing beside a deep chasm, the sense of awe in a mystical cave... or personal feelings and dreams. Dream imagery is always a rich source of inspiration.

It's exciting to bring these ideas to fruition, although much experimenting takes place along the way. Sometimes it's the immaculate conception whilst at other times you grope in the dark for a while before you find that eureka moment! The third track is already taking shape as a kind of musical collision of worlds along with a sense of harmony and connection between all things. I always love to try out new pathways, and on this one I plan to add in some ethnic instruments that I've never used before. It's still possible to create entirely new sounds through combining unlikely combinations of instruments.

And so we embark on the new adventure, which I hope will be out at some point in the autumn, and I'll give progress reports along the way...
