Our North American tour had a rocky start... The day before we were due to fly out to Canada, one of our team tested positive for Covid so it was impossible for him to fly and we all had to put on the brakes! Luckily our agent Wayne Forte pulled out all the stops to reschedule the Canadian shows for later this year, and we managed to fly out in time for the first USA gig in Boston...
It was a huge relief to arrive in Boston and felt so good to be back... It was just over two years ago that we had to stop right in the middle of our USA tour and rush back home on the last flight out of Philadelphia for London!
Boston was as welcoming as ever. Jo and I were given an outdoor guided tour around the impressive Harvard University campus as well as the incredibly beautiful Mount Auburn Cemetery.
It felt fantastic for everyone in the band and myself to be back on stage again in the USA and the Boston crowd were wonderfully welcoming! The next day, we played to an amazing audience at the fabulous Beacon Theatre in ever exciting New York City and the band were totally on fire... Following an equally terrific show in gorgeous leafy Ridgefield, our arrival in Harrisburg felt important as that was the first cancelled gig two years back. The band played the double album Seconds Out & Selling England by the Pound rescheduled set with great gusto. It felt equally great to play three sold out shows, both rescheduled and new at the atmospheric Scottish Rite, Collingswood, once again to a totally fabulous crowd response!
We were thrilled to play the Egg in Albany again. What a fantastic venue... It reminds us more of a space craft than an egg and for sure did it take off that night! Great to meet world famous Indian percussionist Zakir Hussain who was playing too there on that evening...
We've now reached Washington. Jo and I have just enjoyed a lovely walk past the White House and the Washington Monument. It's such an awe inspiring city. I look forward to playing the show there tonight.
It's so exciting to finally be back in the USA!
